Government of Ghana commissions new office of Bank of Ghana - The Building becomes the tallest in the country

President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has unveiled the new state-of-the-art headquarters of the Bank of Ghana (BoG) in Accra, called 'The Bank Square'

On November 20, 2024 the President of Ghana, other government officials and managment of Ghana's central bank, BoG met to commission the new magnificent edifice for the state's financial institution which stands 100 meters high, becoming the tallest building in the country.

The edifice is not only the tallest building but also the most sustainable EDGE Advanced structure of its size in Ghana and the sub-region.

President Akufo-Addo stated during the building's commissioning ceremony that the construction is a major statement of purpose to fortify the nation's governance institutions, particularly its financial infrastructure.

Additionally, he noted that 'The Bank Square' represents a contemporary and progressive strategy that goes beyond a mere physical building and includes the BoG's dedication to strengthening its ability to effectively manage the national economy, fostering financial stability, and guaranteeing operational transparency.

"This new headquarters will serve as the new command center for the bank's operations, fostering innovation, collaboration, and excellence in its service to the nation.

"It will also reinforce the bank's capacity to advance critical financial sector reforms, enhance regulatory frameworks, and improve the investment climate for both domestic and international stakeholders." President Akufo-Addo said.

In addition to supporting the government's larger aim to advance economic stability and foster an atmosphere that supports the expansion of the financial industry, Akufo-Addo praised the Bank of Ghana for its dedication to innovation and efficiency in its operations.

Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison in his remarks said the project, designed by internationally celebrated architect Sir David Adjaye, boldly affirms the central bank's commitment to investing in the nation's future.

He said that 'The Bank Square' has been built to last and be a symbol of Ghana's economic revival for many generations to come.
