Barcelona moved seven points clear at the top of La Liga as they extended their unbeaten games in the Spanish league, 2024/2025 season, with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Leganes, who are likely to go on relegation after the season.
The match against Leganes was a tough one, as the relegation-threatened team played with speed and tactics on their home ground. They almost took an early lead as Dani Rba made a surging run down the left flank and picked out former La Masia player Adria Altimira, who was denied a goal by Wojciech Szczesny.
Barca did not have an easy first half of the game, yet the Catalans increased their performance bit by bit. Numerous chances were created, such as Jules Kounde's deflected effort, which was forcibly saved by Leganes keeper Marko Dmitrovic at his near post. Raphinha, Yamal, and Fermin Lopez had some gracious chances in the first half to give Barca a lead but couldn't do so.
El Lega showed an admirable performance and fight in the game, but their resistance was broken in unfortunate circumstances three minutes after the restart. Jorge Saenz turned a cross from Raphinha into his own net as the ball beat Dmitrovic at his near post.
Fermin Lopez also had wonderful cross control in El Lega's box but missed the target with what looked like a comparatively straightforward finish.
Ultimately, this was not the same scintillating display of football that Catalans provided at the Estadi OlÃmpic LluÃs three days before this game against Dortmund in the UCL. Nevertheless, the three points from this away victory put them 7 points away from rival Real Madrid, who is second in the league and faces Deportivo Alaves today.

Barca is also 10 points away from Atletico Madrid, who seem to have faith in winning the league title. A draw or loss to Alaves from the Real Madrid side will cause a great celebration in the Barca camp tonight.
