White House; on Tuesday November 12, US President Joe Biden welcomed President-elect Donald Trump to the presidnetial living room.
The meeting was at the invitation of President Biden as part of a long-standing tradition signifying the transfer of power as the government changes hands.
Both leaders, who have been political rivals from 2016 shaked hands as President Biden welcomed Trump back to the White House and also congragulate him for winning the General elections, becoming the next and 47th president of the United States.
"Mr. President-elect and former president Donald, congratulations. Looking forward to having a smooth transition, doing everything we can to make sure you're accommodated, what you need ... Welcome. Welcome back" President Biden said.
The meeting was the first time the pair have met since their presidential debate in late June, before Biden decided to end his re-election campaign.
In response, Trump appreciated Biden for the meeting and welcoming him back to the White House. He stated that he looks forward for a smooth transition as Biden has promised and admired the fact that both has met after the political race.
"Thank you very much and politics is tough. It's in many cases not a very nice world but it is nice world today and I appreciate it very much, Joe" Donald Trump said.
