Esther Smith, a respected and well known Ghanaian gospel musician has finally returned to Ghana ahead of much anticipated "Esther Smith Concert" in Kuamsi and Accra.
The musician left the country, Ghana to Germany because of her son's heart condition years ago and has been away from the music limelight. This year, Esther returns home, bringing her timeless music and inspiring message to fans across the country, staging two major live concerts.
More than merely a comeback, Esther Smith's return marks an important moment for Ghana's gospel music industry. Known for her powerful voice and soul-stirring lyrics, Esther has been a cornerstone of Ghanaian gospel music for over two decades. Her songs like "Gye No Di," "Nipa," and "Oyame ben ni," which have become popular for audiences of all ages, have turned into hymns of inspiration, faith, and hope.
In an interview with Joy news and TV3 at the Kotoka International airport on her arrival, She was questioned about her opinion on being referred as GOAT in Ghana gospel music. Esther Smith's response was that God is the Greatest.
"How can I explain it? (she sighed) I can say all Glory goes to my Maker because I cannot call myself a GOAT unless some people see and say Esther you're a GOAT. But only God is a GOAT" she said.
She also expressed her excitement to the media for returning to Ghana and ready for the two live concerts. She advised that when it comes to praise and worship, gospel artists should take it very serious.
"I think when it comes to praises and worship, I use to tell people that when it comes to praises and worship you people should take it serious because the walls of Jericho was nto broken by prayers but it was pulled down by praise and worship. So when it comes to praise and worship, God uses to do so many things" she advised.
"The Vision is Jesus" is the theme of the two concerts. The deep spiritual message that Esther wants to get across with her performances is reflected in the theme. The first concert will be on August 25, 2024 in Kumasi, at the Bantama Pentecost Church, while the second one in Accra will take place on August 30, 2024, at the Perez Dome. Both concerts are scheduled to start at 5:00 PM, promising an evening of intense worship and praise.
Together with Esther Smith, a stellar roster of well-known Ghanaian gospel performers will perform at these concerts. Performers including Joyce Blessing, Morris Babyface, Ps. Joe Beecham, Oware Junior, and others will be performing in Kumasi. A similarly formidable list, featuring ASP Kofi Sarpong, Minister OJ, Mark Anim, Noble Nketiah, Lady Prempeh, and Dinah Hammond, will also be present to perform at the Accra show.
These performances will feature new pieces that represent Esther Smith's spiritual development and journey in addition to her greatest classics.
