Ibrahim Mahama, popular Ghanaian businessman and CEO of Engineers & Planners Ltd, has donated 20 police vehicles and three power generators (1,200 KVA) to Liberia Airport Authority in Monrovia.
President Joseph Boakai of Liberia and Vice President Jeremiah Koung were present during the gift event on Saturday, July 20, 2024.
Liberia's international entry point, Roberts International Airport, will be the beneficiary of this large donation, which will increase operational effectiveness and security.
The 20 police vehicles will help the airport's security force to combat their work while the 1,200 KVA electricity generators will provide reliable power supply to foster airport operations.
In his statement at the presentation, Mr. Mahama, being the donor acknowledged his strong bond with Liberia and his dedication to its development.
“When I came here recently, I noticed that the Airport needed help, I didn’t waver and through the help of the Vice President, who was hitting my head and reminding me constantly that the generators and the cars had not come I made sure that I worked with Mark and Kamara who have been very supportive. I didn’t know that it was going to come this quick, but I was just reminded that they are here and I had to come.” He stated.
He also lavishly expressed the fact that Liberia serve as his next denination and home aside Ghana and the country has been very generous to him and E&P company.
“Liberia is like my home. When I run away from Ghana my next stop is Liberia.” He said.
He further added, “I don’t see myself differently from a Liberian and I grew up with Liberians all my life. It’s all family here. So today, we’ve come to use one stone to kill two birds. And we also supported the IGP and the police service with the number of police cars.
“So today we have come and we want to say thank you for all the support. This is just a small token, we wish to come back again and work with you.”
“This donation will greatly enhance our airport's capabilities, ensuring the safety and comfort of travelers and boosting our overall infrastructure.” President Boakai noted.
