The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) has confirmed 13 presidential candidates to compete in the December 7 presidential and parlaimentary election of Ghana.
The commission in charge of Ghana's election had 38 candidates who filed nominations for the presidential race, but only 13 of them have been confirmed to run for the election.
As the incumbent President Nana Akufo Addo's term in office ends on January 7, 2025, there's a high expectation for the year's election as former president John Mahama, 65 years old, runs for president for the third time against vice president Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who runs for president for the first time after 8 years of being vice president.

Nana Akosua Frimpomaa, Hassan Ayariga, Mr. Kofi Akpalou, Christian Kwabena Andrews, Daniel Augustus Lartey, Mohammed Frimpong, Kofi Koranteng, George Twum-Barima-Adu, and Akua Donkor.
The two main contenders, Mahama and Dr. Bawumia, have promised Ghanaians to turn the economy around. The former President Mahama proslytizes with his 24-Hour economy policy in his campaign, while vice president Dr. Bawumia promises the youth of Ghana a digitized system and an industrial economy.
Nana Kwame Bediako, a new face that just entered Ghana's politics, also promises the youth employment and industrialization. He looks forward to bridging the poverty gap in Ghana when he's given the mandate as president.
At noon on September 20, after the EC boss had confirmed the presidential candidates, the commission went ahead to conduct a ballot for the arrangement of names of candidates as to how they would appear on the ballot papers.
